2nd Place – Brisbane to Gladstone Race

Well this years Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race was a challenging upwind race. Thank you all crew for all the hard work. Also thank the delivery crew for getting onboard and helping us get J-Bird safe home to Rivergate Marina. 6 days round trip to Gladstone done and dusted.

Celestial’s finish was followed by Ocean Crusaders J-Bird III, the first electric boat to complete the race with female helm Annika Thomson, Maritimo 11 who currently lead on corrected time, Mayfair, Not a Diamond, Kerumba, Wedgetail, Hutchies Yeah Baby, LCE Old School Racing and Crankster.

CYCA Rear Commodore Tom Barker, and Members Wendy Tuck and Shane Guanaria were on board Ian and Annika Thomson’s TP52 Ocean Crusaders J-Bird III, which was second over the line.

Ross Whitcroft

Ocean Crusaders J-Bird III is one of two TP52s in the race and the first ever yacht to compete in the B2G with an electric auxiliary engine powered entirely off renewable energy. Ocean Crusaders J-Bird III also took out line honours in the double handed division of the 2022 Sydney to Hobart with skipper, Annika Thomson also achieving the accolade for being the first female skipper home.
